imagine- john lennon

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

I love this song. I think it might be the best anti-war song ever written. Its so simple, but it speaks so loudly. It's about imagining a world where no one fights, no one is separated, and no one is in trouble. A world where people can just be people and live there life; an idea that seemed to be so complex in the 1960's. People were constantly being judged and told who to be and what to do, being an individual was irregular. Even during the Vietnam war America was trying to tell another country to change, to conform to our lifestyle; the world will never be good enough. A powerful protest song, with a simple melody can go a long way.
